Guam - Chair on Veteran Affairs Senator Tom Ada introduced Bill 309 to ensure that Guam's veterans continue to receive benefits in recognition of their dedicated military service. Some of the benefits for veterans include a waiver of fees associated with obtaining a driver's license and for those rated as 100 percent disabled or individually unemployable, fees for the registration of their cars are also waived.

Ada says the bill clarifies these benefits remain applicable as long as the individuals maintain their veteran status or a 100 percent DAV. "My position is that veterans have given a lot, they've made a lot of sacrifices, defending our country, protecting our freedoms and I think the benefits that we have given to them and are given to them nation-wide should continue as long as maintain that status," he said.

Once a public hearing is set, Bill 309 may be placed in session agenda in the next two months.
