Teens involved in Harmon stabbing - 2 dead, 1 critical

by Nick Delgado
Guam - Guam Police are conducting a death investigation after a number of teens were stabbed in Harmon and later died from the injuries sustained. While authorities are not releasing too many details at this time, and no identities have been released, witnesses say the incident was a rage between gangs.
Two teens are dead and a third in critical condition at the Guam Memorial Hospital following a riot that began in the front parking lot of Hanna Market in Harmon. KUAM News spoke with a eyewitness who saw the entire fight go down around 8pm Saturday evening, but declined an on-camera interview. "A group of five guys outside in a white truck eating, chilling and then a group of boys came and beat up on them," she explained. "Out of nowhere it was just like, 'Let's go kick his ass!' It was crazy."
The eyewitness says there were a group of about 20 others that walked up to the five men. She says the men in the pickup truck were drinking alcohol. She also believes what sparked the riot was gang-related. "They are just screaming, yelling like, 'Kill him! Get him!' and punching, basically," she recalled.
She recalls seeing one of the male teens on the ground coughing up blood. Hanna Market management confirm police did gather video surveillance of the fight, as cameras are set up outside the store, but the riot apparently did not end there. Police this morning cordoned off the former Western Pacific Building near the Harmon Flea Market with yellow crime scene tape.
Crime scene investigator Officer John Camacho said, "They responded to a disturbance call and in the course of responding several people were injured so at this point on time the investigation is still preliminary…somebody died as a result and we're really in the thick of the investigation therefore we cannot divulge anything further."
While the first victim was found injured at the store, authorities confirm the second was found next to this wooden bench nearby the flea market. Investigators were seen dusting the area including empty liquor bottles. GPD is interviewing several individuals.
In the meantime, GMH nursing supervisor Cely Mangrobang confirms the first teen victim had been stabbed, and was brought to the hospital at 8:50 Saturday night and pronounced dead upon arrival. Just after 2am Sunday the second teenage victim brought to the hospital underwent an emergency operation, but was pronounced dead. At 3:30am a third teenage victim, also with stab wounds, was admitted. Mangrobang says the teen is undergoing surgery and is listed in very critical condition.
Of note is that despite GMH confirming only two deaths, Guam Police say they are investigating three dead. A fourth individual, a 23-year-old male, who Mangrobang said tried to stop the fight, was treated and released for a cut to his arm. Chief medical examiner Dr. Aurelio Espinola will conduct autopsies Monday afternoon on the two teens who died.
