Guam - The first Japanese government-funded military buildup projects have begun, progressing the "One Guam" buildup approach. Today, NAVFAC awarded a $90 million contract to Granite JV of Colorado for phase one of site improvement work at Andersen Air Force Base and Naval Base Guam.

The contract is funded by the Government of Japan as part of its direct cash contribution to the Marines relocation from Okinawa to Guam. Work is expected to be completed by February 2014. Governor Eddie Calvo comments says these projects will create jobs, help local businesses and stimulate our economy.
