GMH waits on response for temporary waiver

Guam - The Guam Memorial Hospital still hasn't heard back from the centers for Medicaid and Medicare services on its request for a temporary waiver of the survey findings. CMS threatened to pull the hospital's participation in the Medicare program after noting numerous deficiencies in patient care and confidentiality and life safety violations to expired medicine and supplies.
Corrective action was to be taken within a 30-day timeframe, which would have been August 18 but hospital officials have asked that they be given until December 30 to come into compliance. Officials say they have yet to receive a response on their request from CMS, but they continue efforts to correct the noted deficiencies.
