Path cleared for underground power system
by Jason Salas
Guam - The members of the Consolidated Commission on Utilities made a major breakthrough in delivering reliable power to island ratepayers this evening. The CCU approved a resolution that would award a $5,000,000 contract for an underground power line from the Marbo to Pagat substations.
Guam Power Authority acting assistant general manager of operations Melinda Camacho noted the vulnerability of outages for customers serviced by the Pagat Substation. The project would establish a 34.5 kV line between the two facilities.
The resolution is still pending approval of the Public Utilities Commission.
