Lamorena to preside over merit bonus lawsuit
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - Superior Court Presiding Judge Alberto Lamorena has agreed to preside over a class action lawsuit filed on behalf of more than 500 Government of Guam employees who are fighting for the island's public sector to pay merit bonuses for their superior performance. Attorney Mike Phillips confirms the judge took the case but has not received any schedules from the court.
The class is looking to be certified and receive a court order forcing the government to acknowledge the debt it legally owes to those employees who received superior ratings since the law was enacted in 1991.
