Judge steps down from Peredo murder trial
by Mindy Aguon
Guam - Five teens accused of having a role in the brutal murder of 31-year-old Vincent Bernardo Peredo were scheduled to find out when they will go to trial today. Judge Vern Perez, however, disqualified himself from presiding over the case because of a conflict.
Derrick Cruz, Cal-Jerome Delorie, Zared Zermaine Lizama and Shayne Terlaje have all pleaded not guilty to the various charges they each face. Terlaje has asserted his right to a speedy trial. All five remain behind bars on $500,000 cash bail.
The court is awaiting a reassignment of the case to another judge before setting another criminal trial setting.
