Guam - For the last ten years the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in Yona has served the community. The seminarians dedicate their lives to serving the people of Guam and to serving those in need throughout the world.

Father Giovanni Rizzo is Vice-Rector at the seminary side, "This is an international seminary. There are vocations coming from throughout the world. We have now 38 seminarians and ten are in mission in this time throughout the world.  These seminarians are called to be priests."

Spreading the evangelized gospel can be daunting for young seminarians like 21-year-old James Arriola who says entering the priesthood was an unexpected life choice for him, but that it's offered him a way out. James admits he found God, which has given him strength.  "I felt a calling to the priesthood," he recalls.  "I felt there was a higher calling to join the seminary as a duty as a person."

And for 13-year-old Vandric Castro from the village of Inarajan visiting the seminary on a school tour, today's open house has opened new doors and gives him fresh ideas about what's possible for his future and a flavor of what the priesthood might be like.  "It seems like a sign of god that they are showing me all this and teaching me everything...it seems like an early Christmas gift from the seminary."

In the spirit of Christmas there will be a concert that's free and open to the public at the Redemptoris Mater seminary in Yona on Sunday at 6:30pm.
