K-9s trained to sniff out rhino beetles get to work
Guam - Today marked the first day of conducting a "real deployment" for the recent graduates of the Guam Coconut Rhino Beetle Eradication Project. K-9 Handler Ginger Haddock said the dogs searched a rotting coconut stump near Ypao Point and that one of the dogs searching the stump, Kira, immediately found instar grubs, third instar grubs, pupae and an adult beetle hiding out at the stump.
A sanitation crew is scheduled to pick the stump up, chip away at the debris and fumigate it later today.
