Big turnout expected for same-sex bills hearing
A public hearing on Bill 185 dealing with same-sex partnerships, Bill 212 or the Designated Beneficiary Agreement and Bill 158, which defines marriage are scheduled to go up for a public hearing today at five o'clock at the Guam Legislature. Earlier this week the Guam Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers came out in support of Bill 185, which recognizes same gender domestic partnerships on island.
According to a media release from the Guam Chapter through its president Ovita Perez submitted written testimony and a policy statement to the legislature, stating the group is committed to advancing policies and practices that will improve the status and well-being of all lesbian, gay and bisexual people. Again that hearing is scheduled for 5pm today.
