Former DOC officer sentenced to 10 years

A former correctional officer learned his fate in the District Court of Guam today. Defendant Raymond Tammed admitted to allegations that he attempted to meet up with a teenage girl he met online. The child predator was stopped in his tracks later learning he was actually talking to undercover law enforcement.
Walking out a free man - for now – the former Department of Corrections officer was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after admitting to charges of attempted transfer of obscene material to a minor.
He stated, "No comment," after leaving the courtroom. The father of two young children held his hand up as he exited the federal building Thursday morning. Tammed remained silent, but inside Chief Judge Frances Tydingco Gatewood’s courtroom, he apologized.
Assistant federal public defender Nicole Breazeale said, "He’s been a member of our community and he’s also been a working man but also served the community as a corrections officer."
Tammed’s 10 years in the Bureau of Prisons is the mandatory punishment for his crime.
As KUAM News reported, in May 2024, the Air Force Office of Special Investigation and Homeland Security conducted a joint uncover operation targeting individuals seeking to contact children online and engage in sexual activity. That’s how the feds found Tammed.
Tammed continued exchanging lewd messages and images on social media even after investigators claimed to be a 13-year-old girl. The case coming to a close after Tammed agreed to meet up with the teen at the Visitors Center at Andersen Air Force Base.
"I think everybody should be mindful of what they do and really make the right decisions because you never know what could happen," said the attorney.
The ex-corrections officer will have to register as a sex offender and he he may also undergo treatment during his time locked-up.
For now, Tammed remains out of custody and was allowed by the judge here to self surrender once a federal prison is designated.
