A positive drug test and a glass pipe left inside a cop car.

Multiple police sources close to the investigation confirmed that a longtime officer with the Guam Police Department recently tested positive for meth.

The officer, who was recently transferred to the Southern Precinct was tested at the request of a District Commander, after a glass pipe was found in one of the patrol vehicles during a shift change.

An internal affairs investigation was conducted but results of the case have not yet been made public.

The unnamed officer remains on the force but this now begs the question: Who is policing the police?

As we reported, in March, Police Chief Stephen Ignacio addressed his decision to fire one of his own named in a federal drug investigation, Brian Awa, stating, “They have no place in this organization,” referring to anyone on the force caught dealing drugs.

The chief added, “The people that are involved or alleged to have been involved in drug dealing need to be rooted out the GPD.”

Chief Ignacio has yet to respond to the latest drug incident involving one of his own.
