The prisoner who escaped from the Department of Corrections in Mangilao Tuesday allegedly told police he ran away to see his alleged victim in a separate strangulation case.

Twenty-five-year-old Eldon Cruz Aflleje is charged with felony escape in Superior Court today.

As KUAM reported, Aflleje evaded law enforcement for three hours before he was captured along army drive in Barrigada.

Court documents state he was found with numerous cuts on his back, torso, arms and legs.

He allegedly admitted to police he escaped the prison near the domes by climbing several fences and crawling underneath barbed wires where his shirt and shorts got stuck.

He also told police he did not deserve to be locked up.
