A superseding indictment charges drug defendant Brian Sanchez Chan with possession of 50 or more grams of meth with intent to distribute and notice of forfeiture.

In District Court, the defendant pled not guilty and waived his rights. Previously, he was charged with possession of five or more grams of meth, however, according to U.S. Assistant Attorney Laura Sambataro there, was a change in the quantity as the lab analysis determined a gross weight of over 50 grams of meth.

Chan was on pretrial release. It was stated in court that he's had two negative drug tests and has been in the Lighthouse Recovery Center program since placed on the condition.

Attorney Sambataro told the court "the government's position may change if he doesn't continue doing as he is." Judge Joaquin Manibusan scheduled a return for Dec. 19.
