Orlando Waugh holds BJJ class at Steel Athletics

Posted: Updated:

5th degree Black belt instructor Orlando Waugh held a BJJ class at Steel Athletics last night. Waugh holds black belts in Taekwondo & Freestyle Karate. With over 3 decades in martial arts experience the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt is one of the highest ranking BJJ instructors on the North American continent.

Waugh told KUAM Sports, "A longtime student and friend of mine Daniel O'Connor and pretty much as far as I can understand this is jiu-jitsu island man and that the level of jiu-jitsu here has really grown. And there is hunger for higher technical understanding. So I just came out to share what I can with whoever shows up."

Orlando trains under Carlos Machada and runs Waugh Jiu-Jitsu Academy Martial Arts School in Arlington, Texas. There will be a free seminar opened to all gyms this Friday at Steel Athletics in Tamuning from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Waugh added, "My whole thing is the minutiae like little hidden details that a lot of times people can benefit from. I don't have a real fancy high flying style of jiu-jitsu but I do have a very detailed and technical style of jiu-jitsu where I try to share with people. Little nuances that can make seemingly complicated positions less complicated."
