Joint Investigation underway into Agat Incident

Posted: Updated:

The “all clear” has been given after a suspicious package/ device was found at the Agat Marina. Federal, military and local law enforcement officials responded to the incident after a package with a device attached was discovered on an orange Port Authority of Guam container.

Guam Homeland Security/ Office of Civil Defense spokesperson Jenna Gaminde says the Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, working with all partners, were able to safely assess and secure the object in question.

Police spokesperson Paul Tapao could not comment as to what was inside the package or the device. He would only confirm that an joint investigation with the Guam Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigations is underway.

For several hours traffic was blocked off, and water activity around the Agat Marina was prohibited as the Navy EOD dismantled the suspicious items and used their explosives robot.  As of 12:15 roadways were reopened and normal operations at the marina resumed.
