Based on the latest forecast, Typhoon Mangkhut is expected to pass near or north of Rota late Monday afternoon as a Category 2 or low-end Category 3 intensity typhoon. For Guam we should expect the following:

· Damaging winds of 39 mph or more are expected as early as early as 1 p.m. Monday

· Destructive winds of 58 mph or more are expected by early as 6 p.m. Monday

· Closest Point of Approach is expected around 8 p.m. Monday

Damaging winds will last from early Monday afternoon through early Tuesday morning. Guam Homeland Securiry/ Civil Defense warns though that these are projections and the storm still have the ability to slow down, speed up, move farther south or even strengthen. Continue to prepare.

Additionally Guam is expected to be placed in COR1 at 4 o’clock Monday morning. This means that island residents should remain indoors.
