Mark Torre, Jr. gets to make appeal before Supreme Court in October

Posted: Jun 15, 2018 5:16 PM Updated:

Convicted cop Mark Torre, Jr. will get his day in court. Supreme Court oral arguments for Torre's appeal have been scheduled for later this year. Torre, as we reported, was convicted in the fatal shooting of fellow GPD officer Elbert Piolo.

Though Torre was sentenced to eight years in jail, he's been allowed to remain on house arrest pending his appeal.

Torre's taking his cause to the Supreme Court on grounds the trial court made significant, reversible errors at trial, including the court's admission of the body cam video, interrogation of Torre, and the court's order permitting the prosecution "expert witness" to examine and question Torre when he never asserted a mental illness defense.

Oral arguments will be heard on October 15.
