Control of Sanchez procurement goes from DPW to DOE

Posted: Updated:

The Guam Department of Education will now be the sole leader in the procurement process of the construction and renovation of Simon Sanchez High School under a long-term lease.

Senator Frank Aguon's Bill 204 lapsed into law, transferring the control of the Sanchez procurement from DPW to DOE.

Upon the bill's unanimous vote by the Legislature on May 1st, DOE Superintendant Jon Fernandez said he was ready to take the lead on the procurement effort and thanked the Guam Legislature for placing its trust in the education department.

Members of the Guam Education Board and Simon Sanchez High School also expressed their thanks and support of the bill.

Students at the Home of the Sharks will also present the measure's author with a certificate during a presentation tomorrow morning.
