Talofofo Bay Surf Classic held over the weekend

The Talofofo Bay Surf Classic was held this past weekend with 48 competitors in 6 different divisions hitting the water. This year's surf comp will help benefit the University of Guam Marine Lab. The UOG Marine Laboratory was established as a research unit of UOG in 1970 and plays an important role in both national and regional marine research.

Originally the event started off as a friendly competition amongst beach cleanup participants. Years later it turned into a surf comp for kids and expanded to include a women's long boarding and other divisions based on wave conditions. Awards were given out to the top 3 winners in each respective category along with giveaways.

There were food trucks serving up some grub, tents and a spectator stage. Congrats to the Lotus Surf Nurture "The Roots" Youngest Competitor Lola Gomez Leon Guerrero who is 3 and ½ years old.
