Defrocked priest Raymond Cepeda dies

Posted: Updated:

A defrocked priest and named defendant in the clergy sexual abuse lawsuits has passed away. The Archdiocese of Agana has confirmed that former priest, Raymond Cepeda, died on Tuesday after being ill for many years.

The court addressed this during today's hearing, plaintiffs' attorney David Lujan noting he will amend the complaints against Cepeda. Similar to other alleged deceased clergy cases he's filed, Lujan stated "we're not going after them or their estates."

KUAM files show Cepeda was laicized, or removed as a priest, in December 2009 due to clergy sex abuse allegations.

He was 66-years-old.
