UOG Sea Grant releases handbook for natural hazards at Home Depot

Posted: Updated:

It's a comprehensive book on how to get ready for coastal hazards that potentially could strike Guam. Today at Home Depot Dr. Laura Biggs of the University of Guam Sea Grant Program will distribute copies of the Mariana Islands Homeowner's Handbook to Prepare for Natural Hazards. The book covers how to be informed, make a plan, build a kit, and get involved to protect your family and property.

There are specific instructions on how to retrofit wood and tin structures for typhoon readiness, make a family communication plan, prepare your home for earthquakes, floods, typhoons and tsunami, how to work with FEMA, and much more. The book is free to residents.

Dr. Biggs will be distributing the book on Saturday from 11am to 1pm.
