Guam - The Pepsi Warriors are now Back to Back Champions in the Miller Football League after defeating the IP&E Angels 26-0 in the title game last Friday night. The Warriors finished their season perfect at 8-0 for the second consecutive season making it a 16-0 record in the MFL. Pepsi got on board first after Hosea Ware was able to get into the end zone after a Jacob Torres reception put them in good field position. Danny Manibusan avoids the sack here and dumps it off to Ware for the touchdown. Pepsi scored on the games first drive to lead 6-0 after a failed PAT. Danny Manibusan would later find the "Gronk" Alejo Lujan for another touchdown. Warriors led 12-0 at the half. Stephen "Juice", Santos stepped up when the defending champs needed a big play. Santos went the whole regular season without a touchdown but cashed in on 6 here lining up as a wide receiver and beating the coverage. Hosea Ware scored the last touchdown of the game to seal the deal for this year's Back to Back champions Pepsi Warriors.
Hosea Ware, the Pepsi Warriors Co-MVP, said, "We just come out and do what we do. We practice hard and come game time our players want to play and we want to get that win and that's what we came out and did."
Danny Manibusan, the other Co-MVP, said, "You know I have to give it up to the line and especially our fullback Craig Goldsmith who's not here tonight. The bottom line is they may get the interceptions and the sacks but at the end of the game I want that 'W' and thanks guys we are Back to Back Champs."
Head coach Loring Cruz said, "This all goes to the guys and I would like to thank my 2 assistants, James Lujan and Frank Fejeran. Frank Fejeran is not with us but James Lujan is a big part of my coaching staff and all of these guys, this is their game."
Ryan Rios, the Warriors Defensive Captain, said, "Well you know it's the same as last year, we just tweaked it a little bit. Everybody is willing to sacrifice and everybody gives up time. We are not the individual defense, we are the team defense. In the 4th quarter I told the guys were family and let's do it for ourselves, right now right here in the 4th quarter and that's what we did."
