Dolphins beat Cougars in OT to claim hoops title

Guam - In girl's high school championship basketball from the F.D Phoenix Center, the Academy Cougars and Southern High Dolphins taking to the court in front of a packed house. Marlisah Tenorio hitting the long 2-points shot for the Dolphins in the corner. Gem Ilao dribbling, dishes it off to Alina Bonto who drives to the basket and dumps it off to Caroline Poppe for the basket off glass. April Talledo at the free throw line, misses on the shot attempt but sticks around the paint to come up with the rebound and gets the put back to go for 2-points. Southern High with possession again, Talledo kicking it out to Tanya Flores. Flores off on the shot but Marlisah Tenorio with position down low pulls down the rebound and goes back up for the score. Kali Benavente with the pass to teammate Louise Baza who works her way inside the key to get the shot to fall for an Academy answer. The Dolphins get the win in overtime 39-32 April Talledo led all scorers in the win with 17-points.

Kevin Sanchez, Southern Head Coach, said, "We worked hard all season for this win and the girl's deserve this win. We came so close last year, I had a chance in 2007 and now I got one. It took me 6 years to get one and now I'm glad I got one and it feels good."

Tanya Flores of Southern High said, "We've been waiting for this since ever since. We redeemed ourselves since last year. We are number 1 and we have always been number 1.
