Guam - It's not even 2014 yet, but the election season is already heating up. It was over the weekend when the island's Democrats gathered at former governor Carl Gutierre'z home to build momentum within their party.
In that same gathering, Majority Leader Rory Respicio told supports to not be fooled by the Administration claiming to pay tax refunds but instead it was the Legislature who is making enough money available so that refunds are paid on time. Today, Governor Calvo's director of communications Troy Torres responded, saying, "And so you know a politician will say one thing and you can't blame a politician for wanting to take credit for everything but we will leave it to the people of Guam and the voters of Guam to decide who paid the tax refunds."
Torres says tax refunds will become "the hot ticket" going into next year's election and to consider the statements were made a political function for a highly political reason.
