Guam - The National Park Service has closed all 401 national parks including War in the Pacific National Historical Park. The shutdown also impacts the T. Stell Newman Visitor Center, park restrooms, parking lots and park roads. They will all remain closed until the government re-opens.
The shutdown also affects units at the Asan Overlook, the Asan Beach Park, and the Agat Beach Park. Acting superintendent Ron Borne says the War in the Pacific hosts about 600 visitors on average everyday in October.
Some 26 employees are furloughed while only two remain on duty to provide security and emergency services.
