Guam - Dozens of island residents made it out to the University of Guam Field House on Saturday for another
set of public scoping meetings on the expanded Supplemental Environmental Impact
Statement. Participants were afforded the opportunity to ask questions about
the military's proposal's for a live fire training range.
We Are Guahan's Leevin Camacho said, "One, is it necessary to
have a .50-caliber range on the island when we are already going to be having
marines moving in and out on a rotational basis and two, all the land figures
they have what models are they using as its been over a year since they've said
they have a different model for figuring out where a bullet may go but the haven't
applied that model yet."
There are now seven preliminary alternatives for a live fire
training range, which include Route 15a and 15b, three alternative locations
either on or adjacent to Naval Magazine, with the two new ones at Andersen Air
Force Base Northwest Field and NCTS Finegayan on the northwest coast of Guam.
