Guam - We honor the
thousands of men and women who through the decades have fought and continue to
fight for our countries freedom. In their honor, a special Veterans Day
ceremony was held at the Ricardo J. Bordallo Governor's Complex in Adelup
Sunday morning. The event kicked-off with F-22s flying over the ceremony, and
continued with a special territorial wreath laying and recognition for the
island's veterans' of the year.
Joint Region Marianas Rear Admiral Tilghman Payne said, "It's
ceremonies like this and others like it on other cities and us bases around the
world that begin to put our words into action...it's important that we
celebrate and never forget those willing to serve, fight and make the ultimate
sacrifice to preserve our nation and the liberty's and freedom we hold so dear."
A moment of silence was also held for the late veteran and Harley
Davidson store owner Arthur "Bill" Nielsen, Jr.
