Guam - The Department of Corrections has hired a new physician who is working to bring the department into compliance with a consent decree. Medical records were found to be disorganized and lacked critical medical information. The federal government's consultant had concerns that the documented standard of care did not comply with policy resulting in prisoners suffering negative health consequences including serious illness and death.

With the new physician on board, the parties are optimistic that the overall quality of care to inmates and detainees will improve.

Meanwhile DepCor is still working to install emergency generators and upgrade the electronic locking system. However the department is looking for additional funding to pay for the work.
