Firefighter, cop given VFW award

Guam - Federal firefighter Stanley Torres and Guam Police Department Sergeant Rock Anciaco were recognized with National Veterans of Foreign Wars Award today. Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo presented the awards for the two mens' exemplary service and dedication to their jobs and commitment to the people of Guam.

Torres has more than 25 years of service in the federal service and received the VFW National Firefighter Award. Anciano said, "I wouldn't have got this without everyone's support and just by getting this, it's not just my efforts, it's everybody's effort, teamwork and dedication."

Anciano was also recognized for his courageous and selfless service while working on the force. He received the VFW National Law Enforcement Award. "I just want to thank GPD for believing in me and giving me this award. Thank you again."

The recipients went up against other individuals from the other territories and 50 states.
