Senators reinstate HOMES Task Force

Guam - As the island faces the possibility that the Guam military buildup may place home ownership beyond the reach of the middle class, Senator Tina Muna Barnes and Speaker Judi Won Pat announced the reinstatement of the HOMES (Housing Opportunities Make Economic Sense) or Task Force. The task force last existed under the leadership of then-senator and former lieutenant governor Kaleo Moylan.

The group will give industry leaders, government entities, community stakeholders and federal partners the task to create policy recommendations that make home ownership possible for every person who is willing to work for it. The task force includes representatives from the following:

  • The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority
  • The Guam Housing Corporation
  • The Guam Contractor's Association
  • The Chamber of Commerce
  • A representative from a locally chartered bank
  • A representative from an Architectural & Engineering Firms
  • A representative from the Guam Realtors Association
  • Appraisrers
  • The Guam Insurers Association
  • The Guam Economic Development Authority
  • Others as the Taskforce may deem necessary

The first meeting will be held on the second week of March.
