Guam - George Washington High School's ProStart team will represent the island at the 9th Annual National ProStart Invitational culinary competition next week in Kansas.  Lead Instructor Frank Evangelista says he's team has been preparing and training hard for the upcoming cooking competition.

This year's team consists of GW ProStart students Charmaine Eusebio, Jhorge Gonzales, Vicenta Mendiola and Albert Caliyo.  Said Evangelista of his young chefs, "They've been putting a lot of hours practicing.  Last year the team did the same thing and took 4th place in the nation competition against 39 teams, so there's some pressure on this team."

The team leaves for Kansas next week and each of the team members have already earned a $15,000 scholarship to the New England Culinary Institute, if they are accepted to the school upon graduation. If they win next week, they'll receive more scholarship money.
