Lou Pearlman will appear in District Court this afternoon
The man behind the music of the boy band craze of the late 1990's is on Guam, as Lou Pearlman is scheduled to appear in federal court this afternoon for an initial appearance. Pearlman, who is expected to be transferred to his home state of Florida, was picked up by law enforcement authorities in Bali, flown to Guam overnight and taken into FBI custody at 5:30 this morning at the Guam International Airport.
He currently remains in the custody of the FBI on Guam. Pearlman disappeared from Orlando six months ago and is wanted on federal charges of bank fraud in the Sunshine State. He is accused of scamming several businesses and investors of hundreds of millions of dollars by setting up a bogus accounting form that prepared fake securities statements. The 53-year-old Pearlman brought the Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync to international pop dominance.
According to U.S. Attorney for Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Lenny Rapadas, Pearlman will make his initial appearance at 1:30 this afternoon. Handling the case is assistant U.S. attorney Marivic David.
