Six sailors from the USS San Francisco received non-judicial punishments from a Commodore's Mast held yesterday. Pacific Submarine Support Force Spokesperson Lieutenant Commander Jeff Davis would not identify the six, but says they ranged in rank from enlisted personnel to senior enlisted personnel to officers.According to the Navy spokesperson the six crewmembers were found guilty of dereliction of duty and hazarding a vessel by Submarine Squadron 15 Commodore Captain Bradley Gehrke. Commander Davis says the punishments ranged from punitive letters of reprimand to reduction in rate. In the meantime, the results of the investigation into the crash of the USS San Francisco have been forwarded from the commander of the Seventh Fleet to the commander of the United States Pacific Fleet, according to Commander Davis. He says the results of the investigation are currently being reviewed by the US Pacific Command and after they have been reviewed they will be released to the public. Commander Davis says he expects it will be several weeks before the review is finished. This past January 8 the San Francisco ran into an undersea mountain causing injuries to more than half the crew and killing one sailor.
