The death of a 40-year-old man marked the fourth traffic-related fatality of 2005. At around 8:45am near the Chalan Pago Bridge, according to Highway Patrol supervisor Lieutenant Steve Ignacio, the victim, whose name is being withheld until his family is notified, was behind the wheel of a pickup truck.

An 18-year-old female driving a Ford Explorer was traveling in the opposite direction when she apparently encroached into the oncoming lane striking the operator's side of the truck. The 40-year-old victim was pronounced dead at Naval Hospital in Agana Heights hours later. The teen was transported to the Guam Memorial Hospital in Tamuning.

The Guam Police Department is investigating all factors that could have contributed to the fatal collision.
