Guam - Senator Ben Pangelinan has learned that a bill expanding the coverage of Americans who worked in mines producing uranium or are living near atomic test sites includes Guam residents in the "downwinders" category.  Pangelinan states, "This is something we have been fighting for and now we have some strong allies in this quest."

Senator Pangelinan the island's inclusion in this measure must be credited to the work of the Pacific Association of Radiation Survivors and Robert Celestial, who have continually worked with organizations in the communities represented by the sponsoring Senators of the measure.

Pangelinan says he will also coordinate with Guam Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo, who has introduced separate legislation in the House to amend RECA for Guam to finalize efforts on the new measure.
