Guam - The entire island is only being serviced by three ambulances, stationed at the Tamuning, Dededo and Agat fire stations.  Guam Fire Department Spokesperson Joey San Nicolas says two medics broke down on Wednesday leaving first responders extremely crippled in their response efforts.

San Nicolas says six of the department's ambulances are sitting at Triple J, awaiting repair. Five of them are still under warranty.

GFD officials say some of the ambulances have been sitting for almost a year -waiting to be repaired.  Six more medics are at fleet services that was recently contracted to maintain and repair the department's ambulances.

With the shortage the department notes that it does have EMTs on the fire trucks to provide initial first aid and emergency medical services as well GFD has two Advanced Life Support units.
