A well-known professional mixed-martial arts fighter is behind bars, ordered held on $15,000 cash bail after prosecutors say he brutally assaulted a woman and a 68-year-old man back in June.
41-year-old Joseph “Baby Joe” Taimanglo is facing two counts of aggravated assault as third-degree felonies. If convicted, he could spend up to ten years in prison.
According to the complaint, officers responded to tamuning on June 28, where they found a woman bleeding from the mouth. She told police Taimanglo struck her in the face three times—so violently she briefly lost consciousness and struggled to speak due to her injuries.
A 68-year-old man who tried to intervene reported being punched several times, leaving him with a cut between his eyebrows.
The Attorney General’s Office says Taimanglo has a prior felony drug conviction—and still has pending cases involving felony terrorizing, assault, and drug possession.
