Pedestrian killed in Route 1 crash Sunday night

Tragedy struck on Route 1 near Happy Landing Road over the weekend.

Guam police have identified the victim of an auto-pedestrian crash that happened late Sunday night as 33-year-old Lloyd Dylon Escullar Halina. 

According to authorities, at around 9:18 p.m. on June 30, Halina was on the raised cement median and attempted to cross the busy roadway, outside of a designated crosswalk, when he was hit by a vehicle traveling in the middle lane.

Emergency responders rushed Halina to Guam Regional Medical City, but he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The vehicle involved has since been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

GPD extends its deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mr. Halina.
