The Guam Memorial Hospital is officially on the hunt for a new top executive.  During its latest board meeting, the GMHA board of trustees approved the formation of a five-member search committee tasked with finding a replacement for current hospital administrator Lillian Perez-Posadas, who may retire as early as January.

Board chair Sharon Davis says the goal is to conduct a comprehensive, transparent six-month search, with help from consultants and community stakeholders.

The committee includes key hospital leaders and will even bring in a non-voting member from the broader community, like the VA, patient safety advocates, or hospital volunteers, for added perspective.

The move comes as Perez-posadas faces growing scrutiny, following public criticism of her leadership and a controversial security drill involving a physician with a firearm. Hospital officials say they’re casting a wide net beyond Guam to ensure they attract top-tier candidates.

The final choice will be presented by the committee, with the full board making the final call.

The search begins now.
