The stakes are high at the Guam Police Department, an internal affairs investigation is in play after a handful of officers are accused of gambling on the clock.
Sources told KUAM News this isn’t just a bluff, memos within the department earlier this month showed some officers, possibly including a supervisor, were quietly dealt reassignment as investigators work to uncover who was placing bets while in uniform.
The alleged activity took place inside one of the precincts and if proven true, it could mean serious consequences.
All this comes just after Police Week wrapped up, a time to honor those who serve with pride. But now, department brass are forced to call out the bad hand.
We should note that some media had inquired if in fact an internal affairs investigation was underway into the gambling since May 12 but according to GPD Spokesperson Norman Analista he said it has been busy with police week activities.
But the investigation is far from over and depending on what’s uncovered, some officers could be cashed out.
