The Guam Visitors Bureau came to a decision today on new leadership.

The board unanimously voted for former Senator Regine Biscoe Lee as GVB’s General Manager.

As reported, the top two contenders were Lee and Island Beverage Distributors GM EJ Calvo, who ranked second.

GVB Public Information Officer Lisa Bordallo said by law, the GM chooses a Deputy GM, which will be approved by the board but the Deputy GM position is not vacant and was never announced, according to Bordallo.

She clarified that Calvo applied for the GM position.

Meantime, Lee has yet to accept the position as of newstime as she waits for official confirmation and review of the resolution.

Tourism Oversight Chair Senator Jesse Lujan congratulated Lee, saying, “Tourism is the heartbeat of Guam’s economy and is critical to our island as we continue our recovery efforts…The role of GVB President comes with a great responsibility to rebuild and strengthen our tourism industry, ensuring that our island returns to being a top destination for visitors and a source of economic opportunity for our people.”

“I wish Mrs. Biscoe Lee well on this endeavor, should she accept. I look forward to working with her and the seasoned team at GVB as we strive to reposition Guam back to pre-COVID share of market levels. It’s time to roll up our collective sleeves and put forth sound policies that prioritize tourism growth, job creation, and the revitalization of our visitor industry,” added Lujan.
