The wind and rain have picked up in Guam early Wednesday as Tropical Depression Bebinca (14W) begins its passage over the Marianas.
As of 1 am, Bebinca was located 35 miles south-southeast of Guam.
Meteorologists report showers enveloping much of Guam and extending toward Rota.
Bebinca is moving northwest at 13 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course and speed through Thursday.
A tropical storm warning remains in effect for Guam, Rota, Tinian and Saipan. Tropical storm conditions, including winds at least 39 mph, are expected over the next few hours.
Bebinca is expected to pass over or just south of Guam over the next couple of hours.
It is forecast to intensify through Thursday possibly becoming a tropical storm as it passes west of Guam.
Guam remains in Condition of Readiness 3. Government of Guam remains open and employees are expected to report to work on today.
Classes are cancelled for students today.
Officials predict a multi-day weather event with a monsoon surge to follow.
