Shoe theft caught on camera

Security footage captured back-to-back thefts in the Kaiser area of Dededo on Monday night.

A video circulated on Dededo’s Community Watch chat showing the moment two young kids help each other onto someone’s property around 11 p.m. with one crouching to boost the other over the home’s fence.

Within seconds, you can see as one boy tosses a handful of shoes to the other side before they both take off.

Leaving what appeared to be the home’s owner in shock.

The youngsters then made their way to another home on the other side of the block without a fence. The boy in a hooded jacket paces back and forth as his partner enters the driveway before running off with a pair of tennis shoes.

Those shoes belonged to Karl San Nicolas.

“It’s not the fact that they stole my shoes or anything. It’s a fact–for them to have the b***s to just come up on the driveway and to go through our garage like that… it’s like, where’s anybody supposed to have their privacy? Everyone wants nice things, but; it’s kind of sad that we have to go through this to where we have to consider having a fence up or we have to tighten security,” said San Nicolas.

The incident comes as a shock to San Nicolas, who said nothing like this has happened as long as he lived there.

He added the theft is an “eye opener” to a greater issue.

“For kids nowadays, there’s a lot of outreach programs–things for people in need. There's a lot of different things or venues that they can go to if they’re struggling parents–there’s a lot of open doors but–I think it’s just kids being bored and parents just not monitoring their kids,” he added.

Meantime, San Nicolas said he hasn’t seen the kids in his neighborhood since the theft.
