Eighth Harmon junkyard fire extinguished hours later with 1 firefighter treated for exhaustion

A follow up now to the Harmon junkyard fire that took place on Thursday afternoon.

The fire, which is the eighth one at the same spot, remains under investigation with Guam Fire Department. GFD Spokesperson Lt. Nick Garrido confirmed the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was activated. 

The Guam Environmental Protection Agency also confirmed they have launched an investigation as well.

As we reported, several cars were in flames at the tow pro junkyard. Although no evacuation was needed, GFD received additional help from Navy Fire and Guam Airport Fire. 

According to Garrido, one GFD firefighter needed to be treated for exhaustion and was taken to the Guam Memorial Hospital and was released shortly after.

The fire was extinguished hours later.
