Holiday shoppers share their best must haves this Black Friday

Black Friday is here, marking the official beginning of the holiday shopping season.

Crowds gathered at stores across the island like at the Micronesia Mall in Dededo for Black Friday. 

Many are taking advantage of the Government of Guam holiday to get their hands on the best deals.

A holiday shopper, Ella Cuevas, shared her day with us, “We went to Foot Locker. They kind of have really good deals. We also went to Beyond the Box and Vitamin world.” 

When asked about the sorts of deals they have, she responded, “Most of them are 50 percent off and ‘buy one get one.’” 

Shoppers Ella Cuevas and Aris Capati are still on the hunt for Christmas presents. Cuevas said she’s looking for, “Basically anything that we’re looking for that we want that’s on sale.” 

Meanwhile, Yigo resident Anne Croaker already found some good deals. 

Matsuki: What is your must have item for this Black Friday? 

Croaker: For me? Jewelry. 

Matsuki: We’re you able to get that today? 

Croaker: Absolutely. 

Matsuki: Where did you go and what are the deals looking like? 

Croaker: We went to Macy’s and I was able to get a fashion jewelry ring at 65% off. 

Another Yigo resident, Maria Guiao also had a handful of bags from Macy's.

She shared her must-have items, “I’m buying my lancome set makeup. It has a $79 worth of gifts when you purchase an item. And I bought these Michael Kors bags. It’s 40% off.”

From what they want to what they need, many took time off from work and from school.

Get Glammed Owner Anica Mateo shared, “We are having Black Friday sales. It’s 10% storewide. We rarely have any sales to make sure you guys come check us out.” 

Mateo’s must haves are home essentials. “Today, since we are renovating my home, I bought just some essential items like pillows. Then I stopped by Macy's and got some bed sheets; just some essential home items,” She shared.

Meanwhile, John F. Kennedy high schooler Samuel Laxamana is on the lookout for a jacket. “Since I moved to JFK, there’s a rule now that we can’t wear the jacket without the zipper. So I'm going to look for one with a zipper. So that’s what I need to get,” Laxamana shared.
