“Lend a hand, give a can.” The NMI Office of Youth Affairs coordinating a food drive with Karidat for families in need this holiday season.
Youth Community Assistant Benster Aldan said, "We're trying our best to spread the word. You know, at the end of the day, it's really about helping people and there's people out there that are struggling to make ends meet and, you know, just a little help, you know, can go a long way."
The month-long drive runs until December 21st. You can drop off donations at the Koblerville Youth Learning Center, San Vicente Youth Learning Center, and Gualo Rai Youth Learning Center.
Executive Director of Karidat Lauri Ogumoro said, "Once the food comes in, you know, the coconut wireless is fast and the food will go out. And there are a lot of people who call in daily and come to Karidat daily and ask for food assistance and when we have food, we give out."
Karidat will begin to distribute the donations when they move to their new office location. They’re demonstrating the reason for the season.
Special Assistant for the Office of Youth Affairs Delbert Pua said, "This is the time of giving. You know, in order to have a better, stronger community is giving and receiving, most especially for those families…some of us are struggling to make ends meet and just a little of giving, it can make one big difference."
