The US House of Representatives has approved a temporary funding bill, in a major step towards avoiding a government shutdown just hours before current funding was set to expire.
The House voted 335-91 to fund the government for another 45 days, with 209 Democrats and 126 Republicans supporting it.
The measure would extend government funding for another 45 days, buying more time for Congress to pass a full spending plan.
It now heads to the Democratic-majority Senate where itd expected to be passed then signed into law by President Joe Biden before the midnight Sunday deadline.
