One of Saipan's critical streets is undergoing a $19 million facelift. The CNMI breaking ground this week on Phase 2 of the federally funded Beach Road improvement project.
The CNMI Governor's Office says the project "involves the resurfacing and other improvements to a significant portion of Beach Road which will address safety issues, traffic efficiency, storm water diversion, roadway aesthetics, and other important elements to benefit the residents and visitors to the CNMI."
They expect to finish the project in two years. The funds come from a disaster recovery community development block grant under the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development.
