Following the presentation of the Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency's four new drug dogs this week, concerns were raised by the community on their physical appearance with some claiming they look malnourished.

Supervisor for Customs' Drug Detective Dog Unit, Gabriel Cruz, assured the community their K-9s are being well fed. "The dogs are not malnourished, those dogs we feed them premium dog food and that’s dog food we’ve been feeding our dogs for the longest time and the reason we feed those dogs...because it’s a high-performance dog food for working dogs," he stated.

According to Cruz, the dogs are just very active and were evaluated by a veterinarian this week who confirmed they are in perfect health.

In addition, the dogs will be weighed every month to make sure they maintain a healthy weight.
